How to set a Promotion π£
If you are new here and need a little help with setting up your first promotion, or are unsure of some features, you've come to the right place πββοΈ.
In the sidebar on the left side, please select the Promotion π£ icon and then click on the +Create button.
Once you're there, you will need to set up three main steps:
- Conditions π§©
- Campaign π£
- Targeting π―
Conditions π§©
- Select your page - Facebook or Instagram and page name.
- Type of posts you would like to boost - you can choose multiple options.
- Specific conditions - specify the posts you want to boost.
- Max boosted posts at once - if there are several posts matching your conditions, you can set how many should Advertee boost at once as a safety measure. The app chooses posts from the oldest to the newest. For example: if your criteria match 10 posts, you can set 5 as the maximum boosted for 3 days -> the 5 oldest posts will be promoted for 3 days. After that, Advertee will start to promote newer posts and stop promoting the first batch. Note: If the frequency of published posts exceeds the set promotion rotation speed, a promotion queue will form. As a result, a post from today may not be promoted until much later. Therefore, it's important to consider the expected publishing frequency when setting this.
- Option Don't create automatic promotions. Boost posts manually - if there are several posts that meet your criteria and you would like to choose which ones to boost, you can prepare promotion settings, use this option, and then boost posts manually in the Overview section (where you place posts to prepared Ads). Learn more about Overview here.
- Multi-advertiser Ads - coming soon.
- Published Posts' Dates - sets a date from which Advertee will look for posts that can be added to Promotion. You can set a past date to search from your history. Tip: The logic behind date selection and a few advanced options available in Organized by Date: Selected Posts.
- Preview - Shows matching posts that fit your set conditions.
Campaign π£
- Facebook Ad Account - If you have multiple Ad accounts in Advertee, remember to choose the correct one to ensure your budget is used from targeted resources πΈ.
- Facebook Campaign - name the campaign for better overview in Advertee and Meta Ads
- Campaign Strategy - is it Best promoted, Equal budget, Midnight post or Custom settings? Choose what suits you ads the best.
- Campaign Objective - are you looking for increase of Awareness or Engagement? It's up to you π.
- Advertising Budget - there is no upper limit; the lowest possible budget is $1 π (The amount depends on the exchange rate). You can Boost each post for X days or choose Post boosting delay for several hours if needed.
- Campaign Budget Optimization - this features will help you spend your budget more efficiently
- End of Campaign - You have the option to choose "End" here, which will deactivate the entire campaign and all boosts on your posts. Alternatively, you can leave the date blank and simply use the "On/Off" option in the Promotion or Overview sections to deactivate what you desire.

Targeting π―
- Audience - you can either set this manually in Advertee or load your audience from Facebook Business Manager. The one from Facebook can be adjusted in Advertee so you can combine both options π§π½βπ€βπ§.
- Custom Name - name your audience π§π½βπ€βπ§.
- Gender β§οΈ
- Age - EU legislation allows you to set the age limit at 18+, while the US has a lower age limit. This option depends on your targeted location.
- Locations - you can set one larger location or several smaller locations. Currently, the smallest possible location is at the city level.
- Languages - which languages does your audience use? π£οΈ
- Detailed targeting - specify your targeting with a keyword.
- Beneficiary & Payer - EU legislation required βοΈ.
- Placements - you can let us decide the best ones for you or do it manually by yourself. These options are taken from Facebook Business Manager, so if some of them are grey (inactive), that means the settings of your campaign don't allow them.
- UTM parameters & Webside events - set your UTM or events if needed.
Tip: For optimal settings and boosting of your posts, watch our "How to Boost a Post" video.
Draftπ
- Saving a draft - if you're not quite ready to finish your campaign, you can save it as a draft. Just start preparing your campaign and once you are ready to leave, click on another section of Advertee (e.g. Overview) and in a pop-up window choose "Save draft." Or Discard if you do not wish to keep it π.
- Changes in drafts - your draft will be saved in the Promotion section. You can open it and make changes if needed; those will be saved automatically when you simply click on another step of the promotion settings (e.g. if you made changes in Conditions, just go to Targeting and all will be saved π€©). If you have any unsaved changes and try to leave, don't worry, a popup window will notify you. If you want them saved, just follow the previous adviceπ.
Campaing completion π
There are just two more steps to having your campaign set and ready!
- Validate - after you've finished adjusting all your settings, head over to the Targeting section and select "Validate" (located in the bottom right corner). Your campaign will be submitted to the Facebook Business Manager for approval. If everything checks out, you'll see a reassuring green "Complete" button and by clicking on it, your campaign is good to go. In case there's an issue, a error pop-up window will guide you on what adjustments are needed.
- Activate - Once completed, the campaign will be waiting for you, ready but inactive in the Promotion section. When you need it activated, simply push the Off/On button, and the same goes for deactivating it.
You can adjust existing Promotions to your new needs. But there are few options that can't be changed, such as Your page, Ad account, Gender and Age - for those you need to create a new one.
Note: Advertee can promote only existing posts, whether past or new, but it doesn't allow Dark posts.
